Tucked away at a residential lane in Bukit Pantai Bangsar lies Naj & Belle, home to Malaysia's knockoff of the famous Black Star Pastry's watermelon cake in Sydney. Apart from that, this is a very good brunch place with a pleasant modern design, high ceilings, brightly lit, and big comfortable seats to lounge in. They have another branch located at SS15 Courtyard Subang mall but the area is not as spacious as this one and the menu is very different with less interesting options.

What's
this called : Soft Shell Crab Linguini
What's in
it : Asian style carbonara with curry leaves and bird eye chili topped with fried soft shell crab.

thoughts : We were initially confused by what "Asian style carbonara" is and was happily surprised to see it referred to delicious butter sauce that I absolutely love. Take note this means it is not your usual cheesy creamy carbonara sauce but the salted egg butter sauce you get in Chinese crab restaurants. While the sauce was awesome, the soft shell crab was fried with too much batter and did not taste fresh. The portion was big and suitable for sharing if there are 2 small eaters.
What's
this called : Bombastic
What's in
it : Crispy buttermilk chicken on brioche with sauteed mushrooms, cheese melt, iceberg slaw, and french fries on the side.
Chubsquared
thoughts : My favorite part of this dish is probably that little bowl of yellow sauce which tasted like a butter cheese cream sauce and was so delicious as a dip for the fries or the fried chicken. However, I will not order this again because that chicken was filled with fat and even had parts of bone. As somebody who hates the taste of meat fat, this chicken did not win any favors with me.
What's
this called : Watermelon Cake
What's in
it : Lychee sponge cake layered with cream and almond dacqoise with a watermelon slice in the middle topped with strawberries.
Chubsquared
thoughts : So this is the dish that made Naj & Belle famous and got everybody raving about it. But what I realised was that the people who were raving about it never tried the ORIGINAL one from Black Star Pastry in Sydney where Watermelon Cake was born. While this knockoff definitely does not taste exactly the same like the original, it does have some similarity and most importantly, tastes good with that refreshing burst of watermelon upon biting into the cake.
Overall
Chubsquared-tified : 2/3 Food was good and acceptable. I will likely return to try other brunch and dessert options.
