Goobne @ Mytown

We were shopping at Mytown and deciding on a dinner place when we chanced upon this - another Korean fried chicken restaurant. There was hardly any traffic unlike Kyochon but we decided to give it a try nevertheless. 

Goobne was established in Korea in 2005 to promote healthy oven-roasted chicken instead of deep fried in oil which is what most other Korean chicken places do. This is their only outlet in Malaysia so far. 

Having previously tried many other Korean fried chicken restaurants, we were intrigued by this as Goobne had other flavors and items on the menu native to them. We decided to try two of their signature chicken.

What's this called : Goobne Soy Garlic Chicken

Chubsquared thoughts : I actually could not believe that was oven-roasted. Look at that color - a beautifully perfect light brown. Roasted until perfection, it tasted as good as it looks. It was delightfully crispy on the outside while tender on the inside. The amount of sauce drizzled on it was perfect as well, it was enough to give robust flavor without making the chicken soggy. 

What's this called : Goobne Deep Cheese Chicken

Chubsquared thoughts : I initially thought this would be weird, but I am now proud to say this is MY FAVORITE CHICKEN EVER. I do not know what they put in that cheese powder but it is so ridiculously fragrant with a hint of sweetness that we became terribly addicted to it, wiping out this plate of chicken within minutes. This beats ALL other chickens I've tasted at other places. I am dismayed at not discovering Goobne sooner.

What's this called : Flying Fish Cheese Egg Roll

What's in it : A combination of various cheeses rolled up in layers of egg, topped with flying fish eggs and drizzled with special cream sauce.

Chubsquared thoughts : Well what egg and cheese lover could avoid ordering that with such a description pegged to it?The sauce was more tomato based rather than creamy but it wasn't a bad thing as there's already a ton of cheese inside the tamago so the sauce balanced that out. The tamago was fluffy with warm cheese oozing out the centre. It was good.

What's this called : Chicken Fried Rice with Soy Garlic Sauce

What's in it : Mild fried rice with chicken and egg, served on a hot plate.

Chubsquared thoughts : We added this after finishing everything above because we loved the soy garlic sauce so much after eating the above-mentioned chicken. Add that delicious sauce to fried rice and the result is a star dish - savory, yet slightly sweet and bursting with flavor. We thought it would be too much for us to finish but it was gone in minutes. 

Overall Chubsquared-tified : 3/3 Food was absolutely fantastic!! Definitely returning and recommending to everyone!
