Review : Botanica & Co @ Bangsar South
You'll
absolutely love this place to hang out or just relax anytime, be it winding
down after work or brunch during a weekend. Rain or shine this place is lovely
with its ceiling to floor windows, natural light streaming in, lush greenery
everywhere, and irresistibly comfortable chairs. So much so you might be
tempted to over-stay your welcome. Feeling chilly? No worries, the staff will
provide you with a soft warm blanket! Downside? As per the norm of such
beautiful places, getting a table can be difficult, especially during weekends
or even week nights when not getting a table (having to sit at the bar instead)
or queuing for 15 minutes or more is common. But it is definitely something you
would want to do.
What's
this called : Cheesy
Grilled Corn
What's in
it : Grilled
corn-on-the-cob drizzled with chipotle mayo, feta & parmesan cheese
Chubsquared
thoughts : This
was so good we could not stop reaching for more. The corn was grilled
perfectly; neither under or over cooked. Corn has and will always be one of my
favorite food and this further boosted my love for corn. But seriously how can
this combo go wrong? Corn + mayo + cheese = 😍😍😍. On a more serious
note, this appetizer could have been improved by removing the corn kernels from
its cob to serve. The reason being the mayo and cheese is all over the cob so
not only can eating this be a messy affair, but the condiments on the cob will
go wasted as well.
What's
this called : Croque
Madame
What's in
it : Turkey
ham, swiss cheese, dijon mustard & battered poached egg, served with petite salad
Chubsquared
thoughts : Doesn't
that picture just create hunger stirs in you already?? I ordered this because I
wanted a 'light and simple' dish which its description was fitting for.
However, as you can see from the picture, this ain't no light or simple dish!
And it is absolutely something I would come back for over and over again. The
toast was soft and buttery on the inside while its crusts were crunchy. Cutting
the toast through its middle produces oozing cheese and mayo. And that egg?
Perfectly battered on the outside with drizzling yolk inside - just the way I
like my egg.
What's
this called : Pasta
Alfredo
What's in
it : Mushroom,
pea, chicken & cavatelli pasta with a light drizzle of truffle oil
Chubsquared
thoughts : Sounds
boring, looks simple, but is one of those dishes that you completely
underestimate and would overlook. And overlook I did. This isn't my first visit
to Botanica + Co but I never thought of ordering this dish before due to it's
unappealing description. But after today, I will be ordering this wayy more
frequently. To me, this is comfort food at its best. It was soft and creamy;
the blend of ingredients really brought out its flavor. The pasta used is not
your usual boring spaghetti or macaroni - it is cavatelli, which literally
translates to "little hollows". Shaped like shells and finer in
texture than macaroni, the use of this pasta made this dish easy and delightful
to eat.
Overall
Chubsquared-tified : 3/3 Food was absolutely fantastic!! Definitely returning and
recommending to everyone!
